Sony vaio built-in card question
so i just bought a sony vaio notebook with a built-in wireless card. im running xp home. now it also has a slot for a pc card. i want to start stumbling but can i purchase an orinoco gold card and just insert it into the slot? or would i just need an antenna to get distant signals? currently i can only go about 40 feet before i lose the signal to my own router. sorry for the noob question, but well yea im a noob

Well first off getting the "Classic" orinoco gold card will definetly
helpwith stumbling as the built in card is prob. 100% NOT SUPPORTED. Remember, If the card/box say Proxim anywhere on it, DON'T GET IT!! Without an Ext. Antt. your ability to pick-up signals will be greatly hampered, but the card itself should pickup alto ot Ap's. With the Antt. you will get tons more. I suggest you head on over to FAB-Corp for both the 5dbi magmount Antt. and the Lucent card.
