Sony VIAO PCG-8Q4M hidden SSID problems

Hi there, i'm having an issue with a laptop we have working with a BT wireless router and was wondering if anyone could perhaps point me in the right direction. The router is a BT 1800HTG wireless ADSL router and i am connecting to it over the Sony VIAO's 802.11g wireless card which is built into it. Everything works perfectly, shared 128bit WEP key shared and working until i hide the SSID then the sony loses connection and is not able to re-establish it at all even after reboots, we had 3 other laptops of other makes in the room at the same time and after hiding the SSID they all dropped the connection and 2-5 seconds later established it again no problems. As long as the SSID is not hidden and is visible then the VIAO works perfectly on it but i would prefer to hide it.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Baz
