suggestions on AP's
Well I purchased my first AP about 3 months ago and got the D-link DWL-1000A and well after about 3 months its started to act flakey, it acts if the finals in the PA are burnt up and is just TXing the Driver...Anyway, its more or less useless...So I've been looking at the Linksys or the U.S. Robotics AP's...now the thing that is sellin me on these is the ability to have an ext ant jack so ext ant and amp pre-amp combos would be an easy add-on without haveing to tear it appart to do some internal mods to add an ant jack...Any comments or thoughts here would be greatly appreciated...

Ok what you don’t want to do is go from one bit of crap to another.
Have a look at the following. Read the white papers for the devices before you choose. In my opinion this is what I would buy. 1st expensive but i think the best is the Intermec 2102 Great security/ forward compatible/ easy to upgrade/35 years of wireless experience 2nd also expensive Cisco 35x AP good name/ great power out put 100mw 3rd Orinoco rg-1000 cheap but an easy going card in it. Orinoco gold/ cheap/ easy for spares Checkout the report I received from a test. www.veteransmc.com/wireless.htm |
