I have to cry "bullshit" on it being "obstruction penetrating". It may be a nice high-gain unit in a small space, but you can't magically make signal appear where it's already been absorbed.
The old adage states that if it's too good to be true, then it probably is.

The entire site looks cheezy, bad grammar and spelling don't exactly inspire confidence. It's hard to draw any conclusions without testing the products, but the quality doesn't look too hot. The ‘ULTRA-M Omni’ (their quotes, not mine) appears to be housed in a PVC end cap, and the "ULTRA "M" BEAM" (their all-caps, not mine) has visible pop-rivets.
I'll give them a "C" for effort. |

Some of the worlds best great stuff is simply built and follows a principle of form over function. The overal build quality may not look too good from the site but it is, afterall, perfomance that matters. The "cheezy" website is not too surprising, these people work with WIFI, not HTML. Take a look at FAB corp, it's not really a pretty site either. Their ideas of "multi-polarized" antennas may be a sound one, after all, many obstacles change the polarization of an antenna (over head power cables etc). Such an antenna would also be good for wardriving, being ace for detecting both APs and p-2-p networks. However, the "bulge" antenna's found in most WI-FI cards are, in practice, "multi-polarized", as are those short antennas on access points. The main reason being is they're pretty crap. Also, many of the points said above are probably valid, although they are a little one-sided and I would like to hear a respnse from the manufacturer (a free, test sample would also be ace ).

I agree with your premise, performance is the key: a parabolic grid won't win a beauty contest, but it works great. |
