I am interested in purchasing equipment to link my 512 kb adsl connection to a friends computer to give him internet access from my line. The criteria are:
- We have line of site between our houses with no obstructions - we are about 1/2 mile apart seperated by water. - His computer is within 20' of where his antenna will be mounted. - My ADSL modem and computer are about 70' from where my antenna should be mounted. - He needs to be able to use the internet when my computer is switched off. - We are both running xp and Symantec software firewalls, neither of us have ethernet cards. - Ideally, I would like to be able to throttle-back his bandwith. - Minimum cost. - I'm totally new to all this, but I have a feeling it won't be that difficult. I have been told of some "cantennas" which are shaped like a pringles can that work ok. Thanks if anyone has any ideas. |
