u.fl connector pulled off my antenna
I purchased a Wistrom Neweb CM9 to go in my alienware m7700 notebook. Alienware had a preinstalled antenna with a small plastic tube over the u.fl connector. I was pulling the plastic off and the u.fl connector came with it.

Is there any way to put a new u.fl connector on the coax? If that is too hard or expensive, would it be easy enough to solder the antenna directly to the mini-pci antenna jack?

I have soldered before, but not on anything this small so any tips on equipment, solder, etc. would be appreciated.

Can you send it in to Alienware?? That would probably be the best way to get it fixed. U.Fl stuff is stupid small.

I called Alienware and they said to replace the antenna they would have to replace the whole motherboard because the other end of the antenna was soldered to it. I don't think that would be covered with the warranty.

I dont have anyway of telling whether it is soldered on the other end because I dont know how to get the monitor off without damaging anything. If I could get the monitor off easily and get to the antenna connection then I was thinking I could buy a new cable and install it myself.

If it's really a Sager (I don't follow the ODMs ) check over at notebookforums.com they're a good bunch of folks.
