u.fl connector pulled off my antenna
I purchased a Wistrom Neweb CM9 to go in my alienware m7700 notebook. Alienware had a preinstalled antenna with a small plastic tube over the u.fl connector. I was pulling the plastic off and the u.fl connector came with it.
Is there any way to put a new u.fl connector on the coax? If that is too hard or expensive, would it be easy enough to solder the antenna directly to the mini-pci antenna jack? I have soldered before, but not on anything this small so any tips on equipment, solder, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks |

I called Alienware and they said to replace the antenna they would have to replace the whole motherboard because the other end of the antenna was soldered to it. I don't think that would be covered with the warranty. I dont have anyway of telling whether it is soldered on the other end because I dont know how to get the monitor off without damaging anything. If I could get the monitor off easily and get to the antenna connection then I was thinking I could buy a new cable and install it myself. |
