update cisco firmware?

i'm not sure what i'm doing but i want to get my cisco aironet 340 card to work with netstumbler. It works with XP but not on my Win 2k machine. I'v read some entries that say i need to upgrade the firmware, is that on the AP or on the client adapter and how do i go about doing this. I know where to download the firmware but cant seem to work out how to actually perform the upgrade.... any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Which 340 series card do you have? I have it working with a 342. I use Windows 2K and SP2. You need to download the WIndows Driver bundle 2. There are two bundles but the TAC suggested that bundle two is the better for a few reasons. The bundle has the Cisco Client software which will give you the tool needed to upgrade the firmware on the card. It also has the Windows 2K driver. The MS driver will not work.

Before BW says it. Please try and use the Search function. And please stop cross posting.

Goto Cisco and download the firmware upgrade(340-pcm-lmc-pciv4.25.30.exe). After you extract it you will need to go into the Aironet client utility and click on commands->load new firmware. then point it to where you extracted the image file.

After it is done be sure & reboot.

Angry

okay this is what i've done. And i'd like to say that this card works on a laptop with XP (no SP installed).

INstalled a clean version of win2k,
installed SP2,
upgraded firmware on card to V4.25.30,
Ndis driver V8.1.7.26 (same as PCMCIA card driver version) installed latest version of netstumbler version 3.30
installed Cisco ACU version 5.02.005

still net stumbler won't find the wireless card.

in NS when i go to devices, it says there are two device which are both greyed out. My ethernet adapter obviously won't work they other one says:
"Cisco Systems 340 Series PCMCIA Wireless LAN Adapter Cisco (unsupported)"

This is really starting to shit me off and b4 you say "why don't you just use the XP machine?" i cant its not my machine and we don't have a version of XP. Besides i'm determined to get it to work with Win2k.

Any other ideas? someone?...... PLease?

given up

i've actually given up trying to get it to work on 2000. I think i know why it doesn't work but i'm at a loss of how to fix it.

On Xp it finds the card as
cisco Systems 350 Series PCMCIA Wireless LAN Adapter NDIS 5.1

but on XP its only got,
CISCO Systems 350 Series PCMCIA WIreless LAn Adapter Cisco (Unsupported)

How do i install this NDIS 5.1 thing and what exactly is it?... i thought it was just the drivers.
