Garmin GPS 18 USB

I have a Garmin GPS 18 USB and I've gotten it to work with NS 0.40 by running Garmin's "Spanner" program that translates the output to NMEA 0183 and assigns it to a regular COM port, #2 in my case.

I hope this helps others.

Update for Garmin GPS18 USB

For those of you trying to run a GPS18 USB as I am. Garmin has a program called Spanner that will convert the output of your GPS18 USB to NMEA 0183 and emulate a COM port. I'm using it with NS 0.4.0 and it works.

I hope this helps someone searching for an answer to this question.

Sorry, I think I misworded my last post. I mean the additions to your thread were probably deleted. Your thread's still there: Garmin GPS 18 anyone try it yet?.

I am glad you posted, I am now looking at the possibilities of purchasing this device. Besides this spanner program to convert usb to comm, GPSGate would do the same thing correct?

Spanner is a free download from Garmin's site. GPSGate sounds nice and I may buy it latter.
