Question Urgent, Need help on antenna

I need a powerful antenna, which covers atleast 3 - 4 Kilo meters or 2 - 2.5 miles .
What antenna should I choose( dbi ) and from which manufacturer (Linksys,Netgear,Buffalo) ? .

Will i be able to receive the signal at the end point using only pci/usb access points ? without using any additional hardwares ?

The concept is simple I need to carry my wireless singnal to the endpoint without much cost .

Have you spent any time browsing the antenna FAQ? It will also help if you head up to the Welcome Desk and read all the threads. Otherwise your visit here will be short and very uncomfortable.

What info did your searches turn up?

Is this for a commercial application, or are you trying to sterilize yourself as a hobby?

Boosting power on a microwave link is similar to sticking your head in your microwave oven to watch it work. Read lots before you get in too far.

Not for not.. but are you trying to cover a 3 km diameter area of outdoors or will it be indoors?

If outdoors, would be more prudent to have multiple AP's if indoors, well....... good luck... but you will need lots of pain killer for the headaches

Do you have RF LOS, did you calculate your link budget?

yes, this is for commericial application.

It is for outdoor use.

Actually what I meant was, is it possible to extend the client's receiver antenna ? will it make any difference ?

Present solution on hand is costing 250$ per client connectivity, I am trying to findout a cheaper solution than this.

thanks guys in advance

You do realize that Wifi is a two way street? Just adding a big ass antenna one one end isn't going to do a whole lot. You'd need the same big ass antenna on the other end as well.
