I have a fine D-Link DI-713P wireless router. It's a UK model, Ver A0, current firmware version is 2.60b2.
I desperately want to solve the voice problems I have using MS Messenger. D-Link US has a new firmware version 260b6a which specifically solve this voice problem under Messenger. D-Link UK cannot say when and if ever they wil have that version. My problem is: can I upgrade my UK router with this US firmware? I called both D-Link US and UK and they say the same: "your warranty will be void, we discourage from doing it, we cannot predict what impact it could have on your UK router, we are not sure if you could downgrade if you would experience problems with the new firmware". I want my voice problem solved. I don't care about the warranty. I wouldn't mind trying the US firmware out, if only I know I can always downgrade if I experience problems with the US firmware on my UK router. Can anyone shed some light on this? Many thanks! |
