Dear expert,
May i ask you if I replace one factory antenna with directional one, leaving another one as it is. Will i lose the diversity feature? The signal will be tranmitted through directional one or omni one. I can beam wifi signal to service area i want, but what if another user is still present in omni area transmitted by my omni antenna. Please enlighten me a bit for this one if it is just easy thing for you, expert. Thank you very much.... |

Using a directional or different omni on an AP with diversity is bad. Diversity is designed to work with balanced antennae separated by known distances. Using other combinations will cause the diversuty switch to behave in odd ways. Usually this is exhibited by the AP locking onto the antenna with the strongest signal(s) and locking out any reception on the remaining antenna.
If you are going to do this, you should turn off diversity, and make the directional the only fucntioning antenna. Most APs have an option to do this. Moved to Hardware. In the future, please make an effort to post in the CORRECT forum.
