*very strange net stumbler reading *

Anyone know whats happened here? I didnt change a single configuration on my whole network, then suddenly I saw that this was happening in netstumbler, and also I couldnt ping the access point I was connected to.. Sometimes (very rarely) I could ping some computers and or access point, but when I repeated this the request would time out :S

Also, webpages wouldnt load and my browser told me it was 'resolving host' constantly, v annoying.

As i said, I hadn't altered a single thing, that makes my wonder why this suddenly happened.

Any ideas please, I've been hacked?

Have you tried rebooting your AP? I had the AP in my garage shut down on me the other day with a similar issue. I just turned it off and back on and it came right back. Don't know what caused it.

If it doesn't come back after rebooting, maybe it's just FD.

A) Read the readme file for NS. Then you will realize you are utilizing NS in a way it's not designed to be utilized.

B) AOL-speak, non usage of capital letters at start of paragraphs, and similar immature ways of written communication are frowned upon here. God put a shift key on your keyboard for a reason....

Hi, thnx for replying

Well, no it was a bit more serious than that. reseting the a.p didnt do a thing, as did restoring the previous config to the a.p.

In the end i resorted to re-installing the o.s on the laptop, and after a bit of persuading it to work, now it thankfully does.

Do you know why this might happen:

The wireless NIC had been assigned an i.p via DHCP from the a.p, but it wasnt receiving any packets, it had sent about 100, and recieved 1...then after a reboot or something, it suddenly fired up and worked :S

Oh, another thing, routers and a.p's should never have to be re-booted right? and if they do they are faulty? Well this is what i was told by a network admin...hopefully you guys will be able to tell me if theres any truth behind that :P

Which part of : "B) AOL-speak, non usage of capital letters at start of paragraphs, and similar immature ways of written communication are frowned upon here. God put a shift key on your keyboard for a reason..." didn't you understand ?

Come back when you have learned to post in the correct forum, use capitalization, and then we might give you some networking 101 help.

Are you attempting to connect to the AP while you have NS running? If so, don't do that.

Don't believe everything you hear. Lots of things can happen to cause something to need to be rebooting. If your equipment is not on a UPS then it could get a brown out and cause it to be running in an unstable state. I would say if something needs to be rebooting alot (once or twice a week) then it's a POS and should be pitched. My AP I had reboot the other day had been up and running for 2 months straight, and I think it just got too cold, it was 7 degrees out in the garage the other day..

You actually think you were put in the grill and BBQ'd? You must be new to the forums and didn't use that search button at the top.

Trust me, you WILL know when your BBQ'd on here. Your ass will hurt, your pussy will hurt, your dog will be walking funny, goats will be making strange noises, etc.

You ain't been barbequed, grilled or flamed...Yet ...

But look at it this way : A comprehensible, proper formulated, well written, correctly punctuated and capitalized request for help, have got a much higher chance of getting a helpfull reply, than a hurried, AOL-speak filled, miss-spellt, grammatical chaotic request...

So its in your own interest.... At least if you want help on this site.
