I'm looking at picking up a GPS and from past posts I've read, I've gathered that a unit with WAAS support will bring you a much more accurate lat/long output than you would get with a unit that does not support WAAS, somewhere within a 50 foot accuracy with out WAAS compared to a 5 foot accuracy with WAAS. Any truth to this?
I don't care if I spend an extra $25 or $50, I just want to do this up right. ![]()

Without WAAS, the reading might be 15m closer or farther from the AP which averages out. With WAAS, you are within 5m closer or farther from the AP which averages out to the exact same spot as the non-waas unit.

I love my Etrex-Venture...
I had the option of a plain yellow case Etrex for $104 (plus another $25-50 depending which cable I get... or The Etrex-Venture for $165 and it comes with the PC cable and WAAS I average 12-19ft accuracy with the WAAS, and have found that my unit's long/Lat numbers tend to be more accurate than other lowend units.. I woudl really love the Cigarette lighter power cable, but I think I will just modify my current cable to do it... it just uses a couple of the studs on the serial connection... I am simply beign very careful to make sure I am doing it right <wink>
