WAP11 quirk
Had a hard time troubleshooting this problem:
I upgraded my old d-link 614+ that I was using ONLY as an AP to a Linksys WAP-11 v2.8 (has the nifty cisco label on the front). Set the ssid, wep, channel, etc. identical to my old d-link. I conntected to it using my ipaq 5450 without any problems. I also enabled mac filtering (one of the main reasons I wanted to dump my dlink). So today I fire up my laptop, pop in my Orinoco, and no connection. However, when I ran the wireless client and used the add/edit profile utility, scanning WOULD show my correct SSID. Using Site Monitor would also show my AP on the correct channel (I changed channels on the AP to prove this). After much searching with no luck, it remembered that when using NS you sometimes need to adjust the scanning speed. So, I updded the beacon interval from the default of 100msec to 500msec. This pretty much cleared up the problems and allowed me to connect. FWIW I tried my orinoco in both my dell and my compaq laptops (one is personal the other is provided by work), with the same results in both (ie beacon = 100ms no connect, beacon = 500ms allowed connect).
