I have read a lot of information on War Driving, but have not heard of anyone trying it in an airplane.
That is what I am about to do, My first attempt will be to put a patch antenna on the belly of a Cheorkee 140. I will hook it uo to a laptop with an orinoco card. If anyone has any hardware ideas, please reply to this thread. I will send posts on how netstumbler works at a few thousand fee up in the air. Airborne Internet access woulg be a very useful tool for pilots to have at their disposal.

Interesting question
I'm somewhat of a newbie to wireless, but here's my 2 cents. If the physics of the antenna wave permits (which I assume it will), then I'd suggest using a patch panel antenna on the bottom of the aircraft. Not sure if vertical or horizontal polarity would be best.
(Just hoping I'm not sounding like an idiot)
