Ok, I'll give him a chance, I am in a good mood. http://stumbler.net/readme/readme_0_3_30.html

Airsnort should work with almost any card you can get into monitor mode. If you want to find out which cards these are, look at the kismet documentation page.

http://www.kismetwireless.net/documentation.shtml

http://www.tipsybottle.com/technolog...et-HOWTO.shtml
has a list of drivers to use to get cards into monitor mode + how to install. Airsnort installations are very similar to Kismet.

Have a good day

Edit: Ok, I give up... Please just buy an Orinoco classic or one of its many re-brands and it will work with all of the above. You will probably have trouble just getting your card to work in Linux. Life will be much easier.

Thumbs up

I use a Netgear WG511 card with XP and Net Stumbler and it works GREAT! Even thought it is on the Will Not Work list.

Yes the WG511 will work with Airsnort, Kismet and NS, i had the misfortune of using one of these cards quite recently and after a bit of tinkering it worked.

In order for it to work under Linux you have to use the prism54 drivers http://prism54.org and choose the Orinoco source drivers for Kismet/Airsnort, sometimes it bombs out but 90% time its ok.

Knoppix has the prism54 drivers built in since version 3.3; the netgear card is a pile of shit though as there no way of attaching an external antenna but in answer to your question, it works.
