What sort of detriment would a plastic bag have on the antenna? (warwalking)
I want to do some warwalking on foot. I don't want to carry backpack around with **** hanging out like weirdo, nor do I want to carry it in my arms (people would wonder heh).

So my question is, if I simply carried the setup in a large plastic shopping bag would it REALLY be damaging to the signal strength (possibly killing all signal) ?

Just keep everything in your back pack. Your body and laptop might effect the signal a little but for warwalking it shouldn't make a differance.

...with the antenna not even exposed? It would be inside the bag and not even opened? The bag is a little thick...regular hiking style backpack I guess you could say. The antenna has an 8dbi gain.

If this is possible...WOW!

I'd put the antenna towards the outside of the backpack so that it goes

As long as your backpack is not made of wire mesh or you put the antenna in an anti-static bag it will work just fine.
