When to use an Amplifier
When is the best situation to use an amplifier?
We are going between buildings not far apart, but the glass has metal in it which cuts the signal. We are about to try our new directional antennas that are 14dBi. The initial tests were with 5dBi but the signal was marginal. We will of course test the new antennas, but I was curious if an amplifier would really help. c. |

Amplifiers are a last resort.
A higher gain antennas are much cheaper. Or move the antennas OUTSIDE of the building by running LMR-400 to the AP. I'd hate to see you plunk down 300+ for amps that won't solve your problem.
