Post Where to solder antenna?

Please se attached photo of Edimax EW-7108PCG without chassis.
Where should I solder external antenna (or better - antenna connector?).
Those two symmetrical lines on the left?

Any ideas will be helpful. Thanks!

The two symetrical lines on the left are the two diversity antennas. The black chip joining them is the diversity chip. If you are going to solder an external antenna onto that card, it should be located before the diversity switch, somewhere on the single trace.

Thorn: I have few questions... Should I cut permamently track going to that switch or can I leave it?

Should I put connector between switch and little capacitor, or maybe before
capacitor?

What wire from pigtail should go where? Central wire to single track and
shielding to big patch?

wrzwaldo: Is it really necessary to go trough 39 pages of PDF about diversity
antennas just do solder external connector? It will take weeks for me .

That depends on whether you want to use it without the external antenna in the future.

Between the capacitor and the switch.

Thumbs up

Sorry it took so long to post my reply. I had some other duties.

So Edimax has now external antenna connector. It was quite easy and quick
task after figuring out what to do. Main obstacle was that plastic cover of
that card is glued and can't be removed or opened.

It took about an hour (becuase I was trying to do it without breaking
anything). Now I could do it in about 25 minutes :-). Most difficult part
was soldering, because it is always trouble to me. But after few tries
I used lame method and put two big drops of soldering tin (proper english
name?) and it worked . Soldering points are marked red on photo.

Drill was done using with little 12V grinder. It makes me proud because of
clean look. It was quite hard to put board back in place because pigtail
is thick. But I did it somehow.

Tests with 22 dBi antenna shows gain from 14 to 18 dBi, so it works (I really
doubt that Yagi antenna has 22 dBi). Also networks I couldn't detect now
allow connections so I can safely assume - mission accomplished.

See photos attached :-)

I am dicksmack so I posted them wrong. BTW: if somebody uses dialup he or
she should have pictures turned off so others wouldn't be bothered. It is not
like e-mail where you can't disable attachments downloading. We are living
in XXI century for God's sake.
