Unhappy Wifi laptop antenna

I want to increase the range that my laptop will respond to the internet. Is there any kind of device or antenna that can be connected to give more range?

Your lap? Well to increase the range of your lap, you want to command your legs to go vertical and then command them to use a scissor motion to move around.

That should increase your range.

With the information you have provided I submit this for your approval.

Please note that depending on the physical distance between the AP and your laptop you may require one of these at each end of the link.

That's a pretty good price.

I have to agree with the price looking good. I might have to get one just to aim toward the dock so I can surf pr0n a lot faster out there

Edit:
Hell I would probly be able to get a connection across the lake with that thing as well

I have a couple of 36" magnesium dishes if you want to put one on the dock. Very low mileage, about one month of hurricane season. Too much sail area to keep aimed in a serious wind. I had to eat the damn things and put up some smaller ones for the customer. These are about 24db, that should get you across the lake.

No, I'm not shipping them.

HAHA that means i would have to drive all the way over there to pick them up. Hmmm that's a hard decision. Once again I would be in a position of begging the wife to head to Florida without her.

I really don't have any idea why I would want to get the signal across the lake. I don't even have any reason to go park over there and cerf the forum. Now what might be sweet is when I finally get a boat I could sit out in the lake in front of the house and be connected to the house.

D-Stink 7700ap

Anybody had to mess with the DWL-7700AP outdoor unit? (2.4 / 5.8 AP/Bridge.)

Just curious.

I got stuck with 3 of them to 'evaluate' (make sure they turn on...) and then pass them on to an engineering firm for a project at work. I did NOT want them, but got overriden by the folks inhabiting the adminisphere.

First thing I found was they didn't like Windows XP tcp/ip stack. Win 2k is fine.

Damn PoSs' are web browser configured, and they would stop responding under XP. You'd see some of the .gif files for the menu icons load, and then it would quit. Eventually IE would time out. If you refreshed, eventually you'd get the entire page. The problem could be re-created by flushing the IE file cache. Doing a bit of sniffing with Wireshark showed that the problem was multiple TCP connections were being setup under XP and they would have to time out before any more data would move!

The XP TCP window sizes were all over 32k, and the box kept responding with a window size of 8192. Pretty soon you hit the 10 connection limit under XP SP2 and it would quit moving data. Win 2k negotiated window sizes fine, and they just kept on yakking along! Of course, D-Stink had NEVER had a problem like that before, (he said in a thick Indian accent...)

"The packets don't lie" was one of the things Chappell kept repeating, so I sent 'em the packet captures!

Pfft. I'll bet that never gets fixed.
