Will the WRT54G 802.11G work with WSB24 802.11b Booster?????
Hello all fellow wireless buffs,
i`ve been playing around with 802.11b for a while now and got many good "Shots" with a YDI parabolic and my Linksys BEFW11S4 4 port router/WAP.....I highly recommend YDI antennas, super range and fair prices.Oops there i go again off on a tangent. Here`s my question/story: So last week i see the new 802.11G-model WRT54G-54mbps oooooooo i said i gotta have that. Well here`s my question i also have the new Linksys model-WSB24 802.11b Booster, because the booster is just an amplifier really. Will using them together amount to 11mbps throuput?????Or will it operate like i say just amplifiying the 54mbps signal? Am i the 1st nut trying this ??? They both operate on the exact same 2.4 ghz frequency range. Will they work at 54 mbps as a pair????? ![]() Last edited by cablebill : 01-22-2003 at 07:28 PM. |

cablebill,
Slow down there. Some people wait weeks or months on these forums for an answer. 10 or hours is hardly a big deal, especially since some of the members are in different countries and time zones. As to your question: In theory, the amp should work, since RF is RF. However, since the amp and the .11g equipment are both so new, I doubt anyone has any practical experience with them in combination. You could try it out and post your results here, or if you are hesitant (completely understandable), you might want contact Linksys directly.

States #9 "Be Neighborly","Consider defraying the cost of broadband by creating a wireless community network and sharing among neighbors". Just my 2 cents i`m a believer in the airwaves are free what do you all think??????????????? CB ![]() |

------------------------------------------------------ Personally, I think that the "free airwaves" stuff is a nice sentiment, but it won't pan out in the long run; mainly because someone has to pay the bill someplace. Sooner or later, those paying get sick of the freeloaders who use resources and return nothing. BTW, if you do decide to share your connection, make sure you TOS allows it (many do not.) Lots of ISPs consider it to be a Theft of Service and have people disconnected when found to be sharing. Some have gone so far as to have the offenders prosecuted. More on this in the Cavalier Attitude thread, among others.
