Wireless card that supports omni-antenna?
Hi,
In the guides, it's unclear on how to connect your antenna to a wireless card. I'm looking to buy an Orinoco gold classic wireless pcmcia card for my laptop. I also want a good omni directional antenna to go with it. Is there a simple way to hookup the antenna to the wireless card, or do i have to do any modifications to the wireless card? I'm just looking for something to purchase and not modify/solder/tamper with at all. What would be a good wireless card + antenna combo? Thanks |

Yes, but i'm wondering which wireless card that works good with netstumbler and picking up networks, have connections for antenna's?
Does this orinico gold card have it? EDIT: Also with the orinico cards that everyone uses... are they 802.11g? Cause all i can find on websites that sell them are -b compliant.? Last edited by icen : 05-12-2005 at 12:11 AM. |

The Orinoco/Lucent/Proxim Gold card we talk about has a connector, it is not -G, and we use a thing called a pig tail to connect it to the antenna. Now if you plug anything you see in red here into the freakin SEARCH button on the top of this page any other questions can be found.
Thank you, and have a nice day. ![]()

You could try a colinear with field seperation of 0x2816 - 0x2816

A omni will better serve you for going around the neighborhood and testing.
"Yogi" was a joke. Yesterday someone posted in a question regarding a "Yogi" in another thread. This produced a bunch of Yogi bear responses, which spilled into this thread. Yogi Bear was a 1960's cartoon character in the US. He and his sidekick Boo Boo Bear lived in Jellystone Park and were always stealing picnic baskets (pronounced "pic-a-nic" by Yogi Bear; now look at the antenna model number above.) This always vexed the park ranger, Mr. Ranger. Sigh. Explaining jokes always fails flat.
