wireless hardware help

My girlfriend lives 3 blocks over on the 23rd floor of her apt. building, and i live on the 25th floor of my building. Her room mate has an acces point connected to a broad band connection, and she says that i can tap into it if i want to. I know the SSID, and she has no other security on it, but i think i am just too far away. I have perfect line of sight. My question is, what hardware do i need to buy to tap off her signal? I already have my Orinoco Gold card, and bought a yagi antenna off of ebay, but what is the next step? I get my yagi, i connect it to my pigtail on the card, and point it to my girl friends AP, but what next? Does she need a booster in order for me to receive the signal? Do i need a booster to send my signal to her AP? Will i be able to see her AP with just my yagi? Sorry to be bothersome, but i am all new to this wireless thing. Thanks in advance for any tips.

The next step would be to point antenna on her window (not spyglass ) and try your setup

If you can get the yagi parallel to the spyglass, you can ensure you're looking into the right apartment for the data transfer. If you've got a good line-of-sight connection, you should be in good shape. You might want an omni on the other end, close to the window, however.

It would be wise to at least implement WEP over the link while you're setting everything up.
