Wireless Repeater with 2 antennas?
I am looking to hook up a directional antenna to a repeater and then use another antenna to broadcast that throught my house. I don't want to buy a wet11 and an access point. Are there any repeaters with 2 antennas or is there some way that the wet11 could be split and have 2?
Thanks |

Would this SVEC work?
The manufacturer's website does not list it as a repeater and the link above does not explain the repeater operation well. Does it use one antenna for the client and the other for the access point, or just one antenna only when in repeater mode? Or this? It's dual diversity but apparently it only works as a repeater with other Buffalotech hardware. Basically I need a dual diversity repeater(with external antenna's) that works with any type of wireless hardware! Even if I found such a product, would it work WELL or should I just get the wet11 and an accesspoint? Last edited by datdude : 05-10-2004 at 05:58 PM. |

Neither of the above units would work well for one Directional and one Omni setup.
Diversity is only reallly used on short range setups, using antenna spliter can work, but remember you halve your bandwidth. If you can get hold of the outdoor repeater firmware for an Orinocco AP1000 you would be in business as these can run with two cards, (if anyone knows of firmware that works on these units I would be very interested . Another option would be to build your own with a linux/xBSB/star-os setup. Or get two cheap APs and connect them with a crossover patch lead ![]() One last point is that the aerials are different for different frequencies so you won't get an aerial that works with 5G and 2.4G so a multi frequency directional aerial is out of the question (Sorry) My 10 pence worth (And I could be wrong) Last edited by macpad : 05-11-2004 at 12:10 PM. |

If money is no option,
You need one of these, hands down the best AP on the market.
http://www.intermec.com/eprise/main/...roduct=AP_WA21 Alumimium case, weather sealed, featuring a heater option for those really cold places. Mix and match radios (dual) 802.11b,a,g Built in RADIUS, and EAS. Expensive but sweet. The older 2100 series could run a match of any of th 900mhz, 2.4 OpenAir, or 802.11b,a |
