WL110 PC Card 11 Mbps Wireless LAN (UK only really)
Hi all.
This really applies to the UK only really... There seems to be a lack of stores, both online and computer stores offering wireless cards in the UK. ![]() If you were trying to get hold of a neat (in my opinion) card that NetStumbler supports, you order online the WL110 PC Card 11 Mbps Wireless LAN (Compaq) one from jungle.co.uk. It's £128.00, and ends up at about £132.00 after all postage and packaging, V.A.T, etc. I know it's a big steep, but that's just how it is I guess (damn UK tax rates). It is worth spending the money though. I know lots of people have their different opinions on different cards on this forum, but this card seems to be not a bad price and easy to get hold of in the UK. There is of course the D-Link DWL-650 for about £120.00... but this doesn't support NetStumbler (prism II chipset). Maybe a choice if you're looking to put it on a linux platform and use airsnort (which supports it) to crack WEP keys... but apart from that, if you want to sniff in the UK and don't want to hang about trying to track down a card; check jungle.co.uk. If you're rich, buy both. :P Linux + DWL-650 + AirSnort for cracking WEP keys and Windows + Compaq WL110 + NetStumbler for sniffing / war-driving. Anyways... this was just a post to fill some fellow UK people in and maybe help. -- c0redump |

consume the net have good prices for the Orinoco range-I'm using the USB one at the mo and its spot on talking to a Compaq wl200 set up as an AP on a WIN2000 box-the USB option is good for the drive by as you can extend the cable in the car without the need for the external aerial
