WPC11 v4 -- NO IPSEC FOR YOU!
Hi
I just thought I'd share my experiences with this card. A client of mine bought this particular card as it came in the linksys bundle (cant remember which AP offhand). He was happily enjoying cord free net access but for some reason, his ipsec connection just would not work. It was really bizzare. The ipsec client (Netscreen remote client in this case) would seem to authenticate and connect properly, however, no packets would make it accross the link. I pulled my hair out trying everything. The symptoms were just like if IPSEC passthrough was not enabled (it surely was enabled). When connecting via a wired port on the wireless router, the ipsec tunnel would work fine. Only when my client went wireless did the IPSEC break --- everything else worked flawlessy -- browsing, filesharing, etc. Never in my wildest dreams would I have suspected the wireless card to cause only IPSEC to break. Well, as it turns out, the drivers that ship the Version 4 of the wpc11 card, are broken as far as IPSEC is concerned. Weird huh?? See here The fix was to upgrade to the beta version of the wpc11v4 driver. If you have this problem, use the beta driver. It fixed the problem instantly once we figured out how to remove the existing ones ![]() Good luck EDIT: heres the magic beta driver: ftp://ftp.linksys.com/beta/wpc11v4_061303.zip Last edited by rerunn : 09-05-2003 at 08:11 PM. |
