XI-325 Help
My old router, a SpeedStream SS2524, died out on my recently. Once I took it apart I found to my delight a PCMCIA card inside of it. I put it in an old laptop of mine, a rather old toshiba satellite, and installed windows 2000. Of course, there were no drivers. Over the past few days I have been unsucessful in finding drivers for the card.
Here is some information on the card: Name: 11Mbps Wireless LAN PC card FCC ID: M4Y-000325 Model Number: XI-325 There are no name brands. The only label is a white sticker on the back. After hours of researching, I found that it is a Z-COM XI-325, which is the same as a Intersil Prism 2.5. Windows sees it as a _IEEE_802.11_Wireless_LAN/PC_Card. I found many drivers (mostly from driverguide.com), but when I install them, the computer dies on me. I think that maybe they locked it out somehow to prevent people from removing it and using it with something else, or windows is just stupid. Please provide information and/or drivers that are compatable with this card! |

ugh, I got it to "work", but every time it turns on and does the whole network connection found thing, it boots my main wireless PC off the network sitting right next too it on my desk, then freezes the laptop. It only works for about 5 minutes at a time... Why could this be? I speculate that since this card came from a router it may not be made to work as a client to a network.
On another note, I formatted the hard drive of the laptop out of spite. That will teach it to screw around with me. |

I downloaded the firmware and the app, but it said it didnt support the card because it was an 800c. It only works for 8002, 8003, 8004 , and 8008. Dont ask me why the hell that is or what it means. I used the application and file that were said to be compatable. Do you guys have any good firmware apps?

Sitecom WL-018 has M4Y-000325 (XI-325) card also

But the problem I am heading is that they have no registry entry for WEP configuration (as one of my other card has - this can be configured to use WEP 128 without the utilities) and non of the utilities I found on the web worked (I use W2K). But I saw that WinXP does ask for the WEP key by itself and configures correctly when it finds an WEP encrypted base-station. Does anyone have any ideas how to configure WEP 128-Bit without the manufactorers utilities on W2K? |

Could you please share with us where you found these 'nicely working drivers'? I bet there are a lot of people around with dead Sitecom products. ![]() Last edited by akkermand : 01-24-2005 at 03:54 AM. |
