Yagi antenna directions

i know that certain antennas have narrow beams such as cantennas and some antennas have 360 degree reception such as an omnidirectonal. i was on fab corp's site and i saw http://www.fab-corp.com/14db-yagi.jpg (first antenna on their yagi section). it kind of looks like it could work the same way as an omni, but i have no idea. unless i want one for a specific purpose i will do general stumbling with an omni. i wanna know what kind of reception does a yagi like this one get compared to an omni such as the mobile mark? im not talking about db or anything like that, just the range around the antenna that it picks up. thx..
