AirPcapEX

Anyone have any experience with this? Seems like it is a recent update to the AirPcapTX and includes an external antenna connection as well as coverage for A/B/G networks. Documentation also indicates it supports packet injection.

Looks good to me. I'm going to do some poking and prodding around work and see if anybody has some end-of-year $$ that hasn't been spent.

I think Renderman has one.

I have an original and a EX beta version. Neither does .11a.

The external connector is handy and definatly recommended. Glad to see he went with a pigtail setup, saves us from having to buy new cables/antennas

I was really trying to find out if anyone has used it with BT2 or any other OpenSource wireless tools that we commonly use? I have not seen what it uses for a chipset and don't want to waste the money if it's not going to work with my common tools.

I have the budget to get one and can purchase now or after the first of the year, just want to make sure it's going to work before I spend the company's money on it.

It's driver is Windows only and doesn't play nice in Linux. That said, I've been informed that a single modification to a linux driver will allow it to work, I don't know what change or what driver.

It's essentially for those shops that can't/won't use linux to give people the ability to do monitor mode in windows at a reasonable price.

That's not good. Wonder why they cite packet injection as a feature if it's windows only. Are there really that many people that use windows for packet injection?

Seems to me there are less expensive solutions to monitor mode in Windows.

Guess I'll rethink my intentions to buy one.

It's always gonna cost ya if you're using Windows. Though the viruses come free. :D

I have to agree.

BTW - I have been eyeing the MacBook Pro's again! Just waiting to see if anything new is coming up in time for Christmas or shortly thereafter.

"Supposedly" there's a non-moving media version coming out "soon", but who the hell knows when "soon" is. I'm sure there will be announcements at the next wwdc.
