Dlink DWL-G650

Postby BL4CKFIRE64 » Sun Aug 19, 2007 9:33 am

First of all, i'm going to buy a card tomorrow, and the dlink DWL-G650 is on the top of my list, so I plan on getting that. If anyone has a good reason I shouldn't buy this, or has a better card that is PCMCIA/does injection, etc.. please let me know. I mainly am posting because i'm not sure where there is a reliable place to buy this card because it has so many revisions. Can someone tell me where I should buy it and how to determine if it's a revision that does the things I want before I buy it?

What does this have to do with Netstumbler?

Well, it isn't supported in Netstumbler.

We have a forum here that will list what cards "Supposedly" work with Netstumbler and ones that are "Supported"

Supported = NS works completely with them with no weirdness involved like strange readings etc.

"Supposedly" = NS see's the card and using something like NDIS 5.1 drivers you can detect APs but your SNR and other numbers will probably be wrong.

Netstumbler does not support packer injection so I really do not see how your original post belongs here.

Nowhere in the original post did you mention Netstumbler or any other stumbling software packer, (mini Stumbler or Kismet just to name a few)

So it looks like you Effectively want to do something deemed not acceptable?

You will get much better input if you will describe your goal[s] in more detail. What you've stated so far is similar to saying "I want to fly", which can generate all sorts of comments.

He couldn't find the "point" if he was standing out in an Archery range,

Which, hmmm might not be a bad place for him come to think about it.
