Yes, some of them can.

They can also tell how many fingers you are holding up behind your back! :D

I believe it can be configured to record a history of visited sites as well as log keystrokes (passwords & so forth). You weren't using an unsecure AP to check your email or bank account were you? You may need to go back to the owner and make sure he's not going to use your personal info for something inappropriate.

Log keystrokes? That isn't possible with a router is it?

Yes. It will do it internally or externally via syslog. If you use the internal log, there are several programs that let you monitor the log from a remote Windows machine.

Well, not keystrokes per se, but sniffing passwords on a router is trivial.

He ain't lying! I quickly learned to close the curtains before going to sleep last week to keep from being awaken at 0300 when the sun started coming over the horizon. Not to mention the fact that it did not set until after 2200.

Well Linksys has it for one. And I'm calling bullshit on browsing "around google for a while with no luck." A search of Google with BEFSR81 and log as the search terms shows plenty of links. Checking a few shows an awful lot of information on the logging on most Linksys routers including the BEFSR81.

<spoonfeed mode ON>

If you can't find it at all, it's right on the router's Administration page:

Management Log Diagnostics Factory Defaults Firmware Upgrade

<spoonfeed mode OFF>
