help ident this card

Postby BlitzK » Fri Jan 09, 2004 10:10 am

I have a pcmcia card from the Blitzz (no relation to my nick.. promise! heh) WAP.

It's marked:

Model: 1530S
3.3v F/W: 1.05 US
WB1530S-3.30

HELP!!! hehe

Windows (XP) detects it as a wireless card, but cannot find drivers for it... anyone know what it is?

What's a "Blitzz"?

Is there an FCC number on it? If so, you can look up the manufacturer and/or submitter for FCC type acceptance on the FCC website.

Some of the Blitzz devices use a chipset from ADMtek. You can grab a (hopefully) generic driver at

http://www.admtek.com.tw/index/index/Download.htm

It's the ADM8211 driver. Best of luck.

Blitzz is a brand sold in walmart stores (probably elsewhere too)
http://www.iblitzz.com this is the BWA611

I got it for a CHEAP price hoping to open it up and see what was inside.. YAY... its a pcmcia card with 2 MMCX's on it.

FCC ID (on the router): MQ4WR104K

Which doesn't bring up anything on the ID search.

MQ4 is registered to Abocom Systems. They dont have the same
PCMCIA card that is in the router, but I am downloading that driver now to see if it works.

I believe this PCMCIA card is based on the prism2 (or 2.5) chipset. Is there a set of "generic" drivers for cards with that chipset (for winXP)?

Thanks!

I popped the top on the PCMCIA card and found a ISL3873BIK chip (prism 2.5).

...now to find drivers that work!

I got mine from a friend who dropped and busted his WAP (from which I got the card).

I checked the other day at walmart and they were $60 ($59.-whatever).

I also noticed upon closer look that the connectors are RP-MMCX and not normal MMCX.
The closest thing I've been able to "link" this card to is the Proxim RangeLan-DS 8434-05
and/or the Zcomax XI-325. The back (where the antenna connectors are) is plastic,
others i've seen are metal. The "receptacle" where it looks like an external patch antenna
can go is a parallelogram insted of the normal circle that others (like the SMC
high power card) have.

It is currently running using the XI-325 drivers from zcomax.com.

WindowsXP see's it as a non-wireless (wired, I know) network card. I have to use their
"wireless lan utility" to connect to anything. Of course, this is not needed for NS.

A WB1530S 11Mbps Wireless PC card is also in the DLINK DCS-1000W wireless internet camera.
