Again, you would be wiser to add a second AP wired to the first one via CAT5, and configure them properly so that you can roam between the two.

Yes, I think we're being mboligan'd.

Back onto the original tangent, kinda. I'm shocked you didn't test the range in the bathroom! What kind of man doesn't bring his laptop into the bathroom to do a bit of "surfing"? You might want to test the range in there just to be sure.

I just don't understand these people that seem to think that one AP should cover their entire house. I have four to provide adequate coverage through out my place.

Yes, but you need the constant bombardment of RF to keep your psychic powers in check. ;)

Ahh, but you don't understand how my powers work. I have 900mhz, 310mhz, 433mhz, 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz all running in the house. The combination of those frequencies keep the sunspot interference to a minimum and my psychic powers in tune.

I dont live in a castle i expect the new SUPER Duper N X14 Range to cover my house that my G does almost a good job in doing... I guess N isnt as good as advertised. Compared to a Regular G it might be better but by tweaking a G its just as good as the N in the range department.

How would I setup two routers that would allow me to switch from one to one without having to reconnect to the other ap ?

Every house has a way to run a single CAT5 run from the top floor to the bottom floor, it just depends upon how much work you want to do. Most homes have a 'wetwall' where the plumbing drains run from the top floor directly to the basement. You could fish cable down it, the backs of stairwells are also good methods of getting cable fished to lower floors. I have yet to see a house that cannot be retro-fitted with cable. You also need to remember that it doesn't have to be a direct route from one floor to the next, CAT5 cable can be run up to 1000' so you can use some extra to go around obstacles.

As for configuration, you'd setup your units with the same SSID, same security settings but on different channels. The second AP would have cat5 running from it to the LAN side of your router. The Second AP would need a valid IP address on your network as well as the IP address of your router.

Boot up your machine and it should just work.

It's because people don't like to do research on computer components for some odd reason. They'll research (for example this guy) the range and the speed but they don't research what they actually need before they start researching their equipment.

Heck, the last house I lived in, I had 2 or 3 APs to distribute the network load among my roommates and to make sure the whole house had good coverage.

Edit: I just realized I had another perfectly good example lined up, this guy thinks that the N standard is an actual standard! If he had read the general articles on how fubar'd the N standard is right now, he might actually have a clue of why his N router doesn't work that great.

Isn't that what mbolglian use to do? Bad experiments with bad information or the lack of? I can not believe that this far into the evolutionary tract of our species that the NanoGods would allow this.
