Please, enlighten us, because I'm sure your house doesn't have any insulation in it. ;)

<joke, this tag is just to save my butt> Oh come on, we all know that your dog's generous providings that come out of the rear end is what you use for the insulation since there's such a copious amount of it. It'd also explain why your backyard is always so clean in the pictures I've seen. </joke, and yes I set myself up with the pun in the first tag>

You can use that stuff for insulation? Really? Damn, and here we are dumping 30 tons a day. We should be selling it to the greenies to insulate their homes.

Yeah, send some to Al Gore with a note telling him that it'll help with his carbon credits since he needs so many of them.

brwrdrvr> I learn pretty quick.

Here i'll tell you what I usually do.
I turn on all the wireless systems on and run netstumbler on them. Then I try router in different rooms where its possible to put the modem. The location that has the best signal I leave the router there and i try different antenna positions. Then I check which channels are already occupied and i try one thats not used or least used. and check signal strength again. if its better i keep it, if not i try anouther.
I usualy install WRT54GS so i have dd-wrt firmware and i start to boost the power (up to a max of 70mw). and keep watching the signal make sure its good on all of them.

so its more like a trial an errors method.

itsnotme & MikeP928 > The card is very new i didn't think netstumbler would have an updated faq that talks about the card. But i ran netstumbler and it worked, it running intermitently i thought had to do with the driver or since its running on USB.

streaker69 > emmmm how do want me to prove it to you.

By the way I live in Canada so houses are made in a huge square fashion with 3 floors (Basement, main floor and top floor) and we use WOOD not Cement and concret because they are not good insulators. We use Wood for the entire house.

I know in Florida and such you guys have duplexes and one floor house.

So thinking if the router is in the center of the house there is a max distance of 14 Meters

If I were you I would have just put the router next to the microwave to get that little extra boost of RF.

They work better inside the microwave.

On a side note, looks like the big guy has a ruptured disk in his neck...:(

Sorry to hear that. I know nothing about dogs, how severe is that? Hopefully it's curable?

Don't know yet. It is affecting his back legs though. We figure he damaged it a few months back when he broke down the dog door. He rammed it with his head and took the whole frame out of the wall. It's lag bolted in now.

I would like Thank all those that genuinely want to help and explain. But i think its gone out of hand. I’ll do more research on my own, if I need more guidance I’ll post back.

The only conclusion I can reach right now, for the difference in RF range here. Is that we don’t have as much RF noise, not as many 2.4Ghz phones, AM/FM Stations, etc etc etc and the building materials are different (less dense perhaps) and allowing the RF signal to travel farther which explains why we only need one AP in each home.
