Nextel i730 as gps

Has anyone used Nextel i730 phone with NS as GPS? I've seen posts at other forums where people describe using it with mapping software. I want to try it out but would like to hear if anyone has done this before I spend $25 for a serial cable.

What does your owner's manual say it outputs?

The owner's manual says nothing but the phone has a NMEA OUT option in GPS menu.

I understand you can use it with NS or any other software that will take NMEA serial input but I'm wondering how does the phone compare to standalone GPS devices.

No multi-function device will be as good as a device designed for one function.

This has gone far enough.
