Has anyone had a go at the dongles with sma connector, work a treat with stumbler.

Yes, there are quite a few instances of people working with USB dongles and attaching SMA and RP-SMA connectors.

Note: This is the second of your two posts that has required that moving to a new thread. Both of these questions would have been answered by searching or reading further.
