WG511T External Antenna Question 2

Configuration and other hardware related information

After looking at the pictures pasted above at the photobucket link,
It is my understanding (could be wrong, kinda new to this) that the metal wire on the outside of the internal copper wire is the ground??? I took the cover off of my WG511T, plugged it in, booted up linux, turned on kismet, and then start touching my antenna wire to the card and checking the levels.. Oddly enough, when I touched the wire in some places the signal dropped to 0. I assume that it dropped to 0 because I wasn't aware the outside wire stuff is the ground and I didn't have it grounded. I am going to work on it this weekend and I also assume that I will figure it out. If I do, I'll post pictures of what I did and how I did it. I was NOT using the side of the card that has the adapter thing on it when the signal dropped to 0. I assume since it dropped to 0, it was using the antenna's messed up, ungrounded, connection.

Lots of assumptions I know. Anyone got this figured out yet? I'll do my best this weekend.

You do realize that randomly touching a conductor to a charged circuit is potentially bad to not only the circuit but to you?
Treat your gun like your genitals, only whip it out when it's absolutely necessary.

I know it's not great for me or the card. I really don't care though. It's not gonna kill me and I wouldn't do it if there was enough to hurt me. If I break the card I'll buy a new one. It's just the cost of learning IMO. Thanks for looking out for me though. haha.

I couldn't seem to get the antenna working still. Gonna get a hirose connector and see if that'll werk.

However, with this one post, we are able to determine that you have not read the rules.

In the intervening week, I would suggest that you actually READ the Rules that you agreed to abide by.

If my web page is useful

One guy ask me the same question, and my answer was to add an sma connector in this manner:
The Yves MAGUER WiFi Web Page

I think that a pigtail for hirose ms-156 doesnt exist because this connector is not a connector. it is just used to check the card in the factory. there is nothing to maintain him connected.
