Installation

Postby LeftofCool » Wed Sep 24, 2003 4:56 pm

I attempted to install NetStumbler but I got this error message during the installation:

Output Directory: C:\Program Files\Network Stumbler

Could not find symbol: DllUnregisterServer

Can't write: C:\WINDOWS\System32\w32n50.dll

How can I correct this?

This issue appeared earlier to someone else, but I don't think a solution was ever posted.
When I was your age, television was called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today, I'm gonna read it to you.

Hmm....make sure you're trying to install as an Admin (duh).

See if there already is a w32n50.dll file there or not (Aerosol had a problem like this I think), if not, try copying it there from another machine.

My Solution

Postby JimEther » Thu Sep 25, 2003 10:54 pm

Hey There,

This same thing happened to me while installing on WinXP... so I started up in dos and copied the file to the appropriate directory from the install files. System works fine... minus the unexpected program ending once in a while... which is because I have an unsupported card.

Left of Cool,
I encountered the same problem with my install. Did you ever solve the problem. Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks

copy that file (w32n50.dll) into C:\WINDOWS\System32\ and do this:

!!THIS IS FOR 2000/XP ONLY!!

1) goto start -> run and type cmd
2) once the command prompt is open type regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\w32n50.dll
3) this will activate the DLL and initialize it in the OS
