Newbie, help needed

Postby dexxxor » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:45 am

Hey Guys,

So basically I need some help.

What I need to be able to do is go into a clients building and then work out whether an WAP will cover the entire area of the building or whether I will need additional WAP's.
Now from what I can read, I think NetStumbler can perform this operation for me.
I would however need a more sophisticated wireless network card in order for NetStumbler to work correctly. I'm currently using a Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card.
Firstly am I correct in thinking that NetStumbler is capable of doing what I need?
And secondly, what is an appropriate card to use? Ive looked at the compatible lists but they all seem to be really dated.

Appreciate any help given.
Thanks...

This will work better, I've used it a few times at my own sites.

WiSpy might work too, but what it is going to boil down to is some leg work to identify the dead zones.
