Questions about the operation or expectations of the NetStumbler software

ORiNOCO 11 a/b/g Gold ComboCard

ORiNOCO 11 a/b/g Gold ComboCard
Model: 8480-US

Apparently it doesn't work. Damn.

I installed it, and then installed NS, and it worked great until I rebooted. I don't understand, and NS simply says "A device attached to the system isn't working". So why didn't it work the first time?

I bought it because I had heard that ORiNOCO was so good with netstumbler and now I'm screwed. I hadn't realized before hand that there are different "Gold" cards.

Can anyone tell me if this damn thing will ever be supported? Or what it might take to get it going? I'm running w2k server.

Thanks

Well, sorry to hear that....

Perhaps you should'a done a little more research.

The Only card 100% supported, and that will never give you
problems. is the "Classic Gold" card aka: Pre Proxim...

I would sell your current POS or return it if possible and get the
correct card.

as for getting it to work, you might try running NS under WinXP
and use NS, with the NDIS Drivers (again Not 100% supported)
Maybe it will work, maybe not. It might be supported in the next
ver. of NS (No release date avail, but has been in the works for over a year) or it might not be.

Jusst do your self a fav. and get the correct card. Remember if it
says proxim on the card, DON'T GET IT

I can honestly say that I was not expecting such a nice response from the MadHadder. But thank you for the comments. I will need to do just as you stated. I am good at RTFM, but didn't follow through with what a Gold card was.

Thanks again though
