Back in 1975 I actually got in some hours in working on a 5100. It was an amazing machine for the time. The Altair units have been out for a year or two, but they required a separate terminal to really do much with, and they no high level languages. The 5100 had a built-in keyboard, screen and tape drive, and was a completely portable, self-contained unit that ran BASIC or APL depending on the model. Some models ran both, and the user was able to switch between what language they wanted to use.

According to some people*, in the year 2038 IBM 5100's will be terribly important for dealing with the Unix date problem.

Those visions are from the swamp gas and left over anti-freeze in your still NOT because you're a time traveler. And before you go thinking you're traveling in time check to make sure you didn't forget to change your watch because of daylight savings time.

You forget he's The Cajun.. And after all when you arrive at Baton Rouge Airport, the captains announcement does give you a hint of what to expect : "We are now on final approach to land at Baton Rouge Airport. Please fasten your seatbelt, fold the table to an upright position, and set the time on your watch 20 years back.."

:D
