Old Lucent Bronze Card w/powerbook

Old Lucent Bronze Card w/powerbook

Postby janky » Wed Feb 15, 2006 9:45 am

I have an old lucent "bronze" 802.11 card and I cant seem to get the card to work in my OLD powerbook 1400cs running OS9.1. If I load the drivers "wavelan" that came with the card it says cannot open control panel with this OS. If I load the orinoco 6.3 or 7.2 drivers I found, then it says my firmware in my card needs updated. I tried to update the firmware on a PC with several different updates that I found and nothing seems to work. Dows anybody out there have the correct software or firmware they can post for me or step me through how I can make this work? If all else fails a suggestion to a CHEAP card that would work with the setup would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

The ORiNOCO / Lucent Bronze cards were 802.11 DSSS, 2mbps only. Note the lack of any suffix (b, g, a, etc.) Basically, they are useless for use with Macs.

Hell, they are pretty much useless for anything...
