Bluetooth Gps

Postby ramsy_au » Sun Jan 07, 2007 11:54 pm

Hello ,
I have had a look at some posts about setting up a BT Gps with ministumbler, some say you can while others say you cant. Most posts are over 1 yr old.
So this is my setup.
Ipaq H2210 Holux Gpslim236 (bluetooth) and a dlink dcf600w ( should have this in a few days).

The Gps works fine with tomtom but get a time out error or disconnected error in ministumbler. I Have tried diff com ports.

I have also tried Gpsgate but get same fault.
So please dont flame me as I have had a search, but get conflicting info.
All I would like is for someone that has a Bluetooth gps setup with ministumbler tell me how they set it up. Or if its 100% not possible to tell me.

Thanks
Ramsy

Yes, it's possible usually with GPSgate. That GPS should work with GPSgate if it doesn't you're doing something wrong. Double check all your settings (sometimes 4800 baud, sometimes 38400). your pairing key, etc.

Further to beakmyn's excellent advice:
When debugging, always use the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid). Do not run any other programs beside MiniStumbler. Do not run nav programs at the same time. Find out what com-port number your BT gps is using, then select that in MiniStumbler. Be sure that the GPS has a valid fix, i.e. do not debug the setup while sitting down in the basement.

After you verified that the setup works as intended, then introduce new parameters into the equation, such as setting Franson GPSGate up, and using navigation programs concurrently.

In other words, do not skip go, if you want to collect the 100 $, just like in Monopoly.

Not the US Monopoly version I got here. OK, admittedly from 1963, so that might be the reason.. :D

The first edition was produced circa 1935. According to the Inflation Calculator, what cost $200 in 1935 would cost $2760.99 in 2005.

We always played that if you passed Go you got $200 and if you landed on Go you got $500. If you landed on Free Parking then you get all the money that was paid in Taxes and such.

We didn't do the $500 part, but we do the free parking part.
