Is the D-Link 650 = Dlink 650+?

Postby Pete P. » Wed Jun 15, 2005 9:10 am

Just asking a quick question before I buy. I know there are drivers for the 650 model available for wince 3.0, and I know the 650 is on the compatability list as working, and I'd just like to know if the 650 model is the same as the 650+.

Thanks. And WOW that was fast. I just found a cheap 650 model, and did a search to refind the drivers. I found all these replies to a thread with my exact title... It was my thread!
Thanks.

...that the DWL-650+ is a Cardbus type card. The Cardbus architecture is NOT compatible with any current PocketPC.

Thanks even more :-) I was just making sure it wasn't similar to a resticker, or just a re-release under a new name.

Generally speaking most cards are good at what they were designed for (general networking). It's when you get into specialty applications that the turds rise to the surface. My DWL-A650s work like a charm when connected to my network but lack any usefullness doing other things. Likewise, if an application is written around specific hardware you can hardly go wrong selecting that hardware.

I hear you about selecting new hardware (so many choices so little time).
