Windows Mobile 2003 and Gold Card

Postby jbr » Tue Aug 19, 2003 9:45 am

Let me try a different twist on this.

I have a new iPAQ 5555 w/WM2003. I am looking for a proven driver for my Gold Card under this new O/S.

I have tried loading the old faithful Compaq WL110 Wireless Client 7.62 with no luck. Keeps coming back asking "Enter the name fo the device driver for this card" [Network card in Socket 1].

I am not trying to use the internal W-Fi card but rather the Orinoco Gold card.

Your suggestions are very welcomed from other Windows Mobile 2003 owners.

Thanks.

Ok go here or if that link don't work click here to get the sr02_wince.zip file.

This file is NOT perfect, but it should let you use your Orinoco Gold card with miniStumbler. If you have used an Orinoco card with PPC2002 you'll know what all is missing!

Ok I'll also ask, anyone know of an old style Orinoco 802.11b driver that really works with Windows Mobile? Or if you are using this driver, are you missing as much as I am?

Thanks

Ok looks like they have been taking lessons from Hp on how to write drivers.

Here is my take on what needs to be done to the above driver.

Copy this key values \HKLM\ Comm\WLLUC46\
DisplayName
Group
ImagePath

to this key \HKLM\Comm\WLLUC461

Just tap and hold in WLLUC46 then chose copy and go to WLLUC461 and paste. Then do a soft reset. Now you will find the Orinoco Wireless Network Driver list under most programs.

In \HKLM\Comm\WLLUC461\Parms you will find NetworkAddress If you change this to the same value as your 5455 MAC address, this card will then use the same address as the built in card.

I'm using driver version 7.42. I installed it and it just works. Make sure you turn off the internal wireless first.

Hi there,
I've tried everyone's suggestions above but I haven't any luck installing Orinoco drivers for my "original" Orinoco Gold with Semsons PCMCIA-CF adapter in my Dell Axim x50v. Even after the registry tweaks it still manages to pop up with "Network Card in Slot 1" etc etc.
Has anyone had similar problems?

Cheers,
