Windows Mobile 2003?

Questions and configuration information about the MiniStumbler software

Windows Mobile 2003?

Postby c-mag » Sun Jul 06, 2003 5:34 pm

Anyone tried one of the new Pocket PCs yet?

Latest Orinoco drivers state that they functiion with Windows CE 4.0, but Windows Mobile 2003 is actually CE 4.2.

Unfortunately, I still have a few weeks to wait before I can get my hands on a new PPC to test this out.

3955 with PocketPC 2003, PCMCIA sleeve, Orinoco Gold, and drivers from here are working fine for me.

Actually, I may have spoken too soon. The card works and NS shows as scanning, but I am currently only picking up APs when I have it set to reconfigure card automatically. I'll do more testing, but has anyone else tried it yet?

Well I know PocketWarrior isn't working yet with 2003 havent heard about MS but I wouldn't put money on it.

I think I will stick with 2002 for a while and let someone else beta 2003. :D

I was just handed an Ipaq h5555 with 2003 "Windows CE 4.2" and the built-in WLAN functionality

Ministumbler reports "No wireless"

Now - I am brand new to ministumbler, so don't take this as meaning it absolutely does not work. It is entirely possible that I do not have the thing set up right.

I am willing to be the guinea pig if someone wants to give direction.

Yes, the WLAN option is turned on...that much I know.

If I'm not mistaken, the 5555 uses a prism chipset and does not work with NetStumbler. PocketWarrior would be your option for that, and someone already said PW does not work in 2003 yet.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Get a PC Card Expansion Pack+ and an Orinoco Gold. That's your best bet for MiniStumbler functionality. Then post back here later with your findings.

And if I'm not mistakem the 5550 probably has a non-Prism chipset, becasuse it's predecessor had it. I can''t remember the name now though.

Edit: It's probably an Atmel chipset.

Are you sure about the fact the hp5500 use prism insteal of Atmel like the hp5400 used to have?
If it do have Prism that a reason for me to get one ;) I was thinking of buying one but I don't want atmel chipset...

I really doubt it will be prism.

I thought that all the hardware was the same except for CPU and RAM.

Screen may be different also but I'm not sure. I'm just extrapolating from their past model numbers and display qualitys.

Nope...I must've been smoking the good stuff. I don't know where I heard that, but it seems as if I'm wrong.

i've got a tosh e750 running wm2003 and i can't get it to work with any of the software at the moment (ministumbler, winc or pocketwarrior)

I have so far assumed this is because of wm2003 and that someone will release an update soon

finger crossed.....

Well if you send Dataworm a new PPC2003 device I am sure he would get PocketWarrior running on it in no time. :D
