http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/navy/tailhook/91.html gives a fairly unbiased account. A 1995 movie "She Stood Alone" gave a very biased hollywoodesque account of what happened.

How did I miss this?

Those are seven hardworking guys. Most I can sexually harass are two or three a day tops.

Those seven mentioned above were sexually harrassed just like the 83 women. Read the story at the first link.

If a man talks dirty to a woman, it's called sexual harassment.

If a woman talks dirty to a man, it cost $3.99 per minute.

When I was your age, television was called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today, I'm gonna read it to you.

Today's blog post republished for gun enthusiasts...

We had a visitor this afternoon. I noticed that one of the guys on the visitor's protective security detail (PSD) had a weapon slung over his shoulder that I had not ever seen in person but I recognized immediately (see below).

Gun enthusiasts will recognize (as I did) that this is the Heckler & Koch MP5. Why do I care? Simply because this is a classic among firearms. It would be in the firearm hall of fame, if there was one. It is the standard weapon for tactical teams, law enforcement (SWAT) and military special operations. As one website puts it, the MP5 is "[t]the standard by which all others are judged."

I think any gun enthusiast who hasn't already fired an MP5 would salivate to get their hands on one. The MP5's diopter sights are said to be very easy to learn to use. I don't expect to have the chance to fire one of these, but if the chance came, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

While I agree it is a nice gun, it can be hard to handle for a novice shooter. I've shot but the Mp5 full auto and a AR15 (chambered in 9mm) in full auto, and I found that the AR15 was much easier to handle. Mostly due to the weight of the barrel. On full auto, the AR15 would stay on target without much effort, whereas the Mp5 would rise sharply and I found it very difficult to hold on target.

Hopefully the guys that were carrying these had some experience in shooting them, as it can be rather disconcerting to leave vertical stripes across your target when you're expecting them to be CM.

That's my experience with them anyway.

I agree that the AR15 is MUCH easier to shoot then the MP5. When you first shoot the MP5, you get that weird feeling and then realize the thing is rising and fast.
