I think on the first of April, 2006, I wont even turn my computer on. All I can say is that I hope my new Gmail space is not a joke and that the Pope stops messing about.

LOL.. Bastard.. But the giveaway was that all previous announcements about NS has been made by Marius..
So untill the version 0.4.1 which he posted about on the 29'th march over at stumbler.net is formally announced by him here, I won't believe any news about a NS release by anybody ;)

Actually it's funny cause it's not a joke. I found a version of 0.4.1 on marius' personal website. It was in a hidden directory. Thank you robots.txt file.

I tried zipping it up but it's over the 90k limit so here's a link to it from

Not sure, since I don't have a "What's New" for it. I'm guessing the following:

OUI list updated/ support for external OUI list
Faster scanning
Possibly an option for Passive scanning

I'm testing these out now to see. I'm waiting for the IT guy to get back so I can get access to a wireless router to test passive scanning.

I'm in the proccess now of using a dissassembler to see if there's any hooks for OUI lists. It appears that it's looking for the existance of 2 files in the install directory. I'm guessing the 1st is the normal scripting file and the 2nd hopefully is the external OUI

LMFAO.... Ahhahhahahahahahaahahahaha... Damn my stomach hurts...

If only I could tell you about the beta of the next version, but I can't ;)
And as usual, Marius will release it, when HE is ready to release it, and not one second before...

When NS 0.4.1 comes out with the updated OUI list, will it change the [Fake] APs in my files to the appropriate vendor or will it only do it on newly discovered networks?

Looks like it's dynamic based on the BSSID since the vendor isn't stored in the file.

Anybody try using an external OUI yet? I tried OUI.txt but it didn't work.

That dialogue box is fake.. The REAL Deal works totally different.
Think extendable architecture.. And thats all I am allowed to reveal about the beta.
But one thing I can say additionally.. People will go wild and be VERY surprised over the new features in the next version.. :D

I just hope the next version gets released before WWWD5, whenever that's going to be.
