I see what you mean. But I'll bet you good money you'll notice a big difference (not difficult!) with an external. Doesn't have to be anything flashy; you can build something yourself for a few £ in half an hour.

No but I get up to Kingston a bit. Next time I'm up ffc and I have agreed to try to get together; you might like to PM either of us.

Just found the netstumbler site and thought I'd say "Hi". I'm another northerner (Leeds) - any more Leedsy people on here?

Not got any kit yet (except a Garmin GPS which I plan on using), anyone know where to buy Orinoco kit in/around Leeds?

Andy.

Hi,

I bought my Orinoco gold card from a company called Rystan Installation (http://www.rystan.co.uk).

If I remember correctly I bought it for about £90.

I thought I'd post because I thought their service was excellent - something you don't find much these days!

Hi guys,

have any of you seen this.

http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/homepage/news/page.cfm?objectid=12125585&method=sm_full

The airticle mentions software called airsnort. Strangely enough, I have noticed that the website http://www.airsnort.info (aka http://www.wardriving.info) has been pulled. hmmm

Sigh,
have any of you seen this.

Its worrying that the report appears to make some statements that could just be read at face value...
...it takes just minutes to infiltrate highly-sensitive information...
...26 parcels of confidential computer information...
...the connection was not detected...

Whatever we think of as the truth, I can hear the legislation being drafted as we speak.

Hmm, £70.00 for an NIC ?

Oh well, we can still always ramble on and on about how we can remember a time before it was illegal to own an unlicensed wireless NIC, how we used to find AP's, all those amusing SSID's, oh the fun we had, etc etc......

Yes during labor day here, we do maintainance of the server and installed bastillelinux firewall to provide 24 hours security monitoring against port scanning, denial-of service attack, automated disabling malicious IP address so we can serve only wardriving enthusiast, wireless security practitioner, and have fun.

If you have documents to share, post it to http://www.wardriving.info (aka http://www.airsnort.info).

Cheers,
TheWatcher.
