MAC address for wifi

Postby Scruge » Mon Dec 05, 2005 6:09 am

Are there any other agencies responsible for issuing MAC/BSSIDs?

I've been building a database of my stumblings and correlating the bssids to the current ieee datum.
I've discovered most can be resolved to a legitimate ieee registration but some can't, approx 1100 out of 130k.

I figured they were either being spoofed by the user or renegade vendors.

Thanks

Yep, still kicking. Been busy with a few projects and haven't had much time to post anything.

I noticed you had some serious stats in Nov. congrats.
I'll have to wait until you guys up north get snowed in so I can catch up.

Thanks. That's what a week in Dallas will do for you. I think my December contributions are pretty much in already. I've got too much to do to get ready for Christmas. Everyone is coming to my house this year.

Keep in mind how easy it is to change a routers MAC, it's likely that some people are just rolling thier own and not following normal OUI registrations. Statistical background noise at worst.
